Because Every Story—Like Every Starfish—Matters.
Inspired by the Starfish Story, Haley Rigdon believes that even small moments of care and connection can make a meaningful difference. The story tells of a young girl on a beach, gently tossing stranded starfish back into the ocean. When someone points out the overwhelming nature of the problem, saying, "But, there are so many. You can't help them all. What does it matter?" the girl saves another starfish and replies, “It matters to that one.” That singular message reflects how Haley approaches her work as a therapist—with compassion, presence, and dedication.
Finding Calm in the Waves of Life.
Hi, I’m Haley Rigdon, LCSW.
If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re carrying something heavy. Maybe something you've carried for a long time. Maybe you’re feeling stuck in patterns that don’t make sense, exhausted by relationships that drain you, or overwhelmed by memories that won’t stay in the past. Whether your trauma is loud and obvious, or quiet and invisible to others, I want you to know this: You’re not broken. You're human. And you’re not alone.
I’m a trauma-informed therapist with a background in working with individuals and families who’ve experienced abuse, neglect, and disruption, especially those connected to the foster care system. My career began in Child Protective Services, where I worked across three counties supporting children and families during some of the most painful and chaotic moments of their lives. That experience shaped everything about how I approach therapy: with compassion, realism, and deep respect for your story.

I studied child brain development at Georgia State University, focusing on how early trauma affects emotional regulation and behavior. I went on to get my master’s in social work from the University of Georgia, where I specialized in trauma in the foster care system. Since then, I’ve spent the past six years helping both children and adults untangle the impact of early adversity and move toward healing.
In my early years as a therapist, I worked with children from low-income communities using Art and Play Therapy to help them safely process trauma. For the past three years, I’ve worked with adults, many of whom didn’t realize how much their childhood experiences were still affecting them today. I’ve supported clients through complex PTSD, anxiety, relationship struggles, and burnout, often rooted in pain that started long before adulthood.
I use Integrative Therapy, which is a holistic, flexible approach that allows me to tailor each session to you. While I often incorporate Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), I also pull from other modalities depending on your needs. I might suggest helpful tools between sessions—like books, journaling prompts, or community resources—so that our work can continue to support you throughout your week.
My role isn’t to fix you. It’s to sit beside you as you uncover who you are beneath the pain, reconnect with your strengths, and build new ways of being. Together, we can create a space where healing doesn’t feel so overwhelming and where hope has room to grow.
If you're ready to start or just curious about what therapy with me might look like, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Reach out to me today to book your free 15-minute consultation.
